Granite headstones are available as single, companion or family headstones.

Headstones come in a variety of styles including upright, flat, slant, bevel and bench. Each style can be customized in different stone colors, sizes and finishes. Headstones will be designed, created and engraved to include your personal words and pictures.

Granite has been used for headstones, markers and monuments for hundreds of years because of its durability, elegance and beauty. Let Pennsylvania Monument Co. help you select and personalize the perfect headstone to remember your loved one for years to come. We will work with you to create a unique headstone that is a fitting tribute to your loved one’s memory.

Types of headstones available

Uprights

Upright monuments consist of the die and base. The die is the top part of the monument that sits on the base. The tops are usually serpentine, oval or straight; however, other styles and custom shapes are also available. The base is the lower part of the monument and generally has a polished top and rock sides.

Flats

Flat markers sit level with the ground and are particularly easy to maintain. They are sometimes called grass or flush markers.

Bevel markers

Bevel markers, sometimes called pillow markers, have a beveled or slanted face where the back of the stone is a few inches higher than the front. Since it is slightly slanted, the headstone is easier to read than a flat headstone.

Slant markers

Slant markers are cut with a slanted face and are wider at the bottom than the top. They are taller than bevel markers and can include one or two names. Several variations of slant memorial designs are available. The top can be straight, rounded or curved and the memorial can be designed with or without a granite base.

Benches

Memorial benches come in many styles and also can be made to hold cremated remains. Benches provide a place to sit and reflect near a loved one’s grave. They allow space for engraving names, dates and pictures. Memorial benches can be used as stand-alone grave markers or as design elements of larger burial plots or mausoleums.

Benches are also an excellent option in areas such as parks and other public places where typical monuments may not be suitable.
